Thank you for visiting the IPY Canada Time Capsule Project Online Exhibit! The IPY Canada Time Capsule Project is a youth-led initiative aimed at involving youth across northern Canada in the International Polar Year through photography, painting, video, writing, and other creative works. The Project has been developed based on the conviction that meaningful youth participation is essential to ensuring the lasting legacy of the International Polar Year. These works, which communicate the spirit of northern community life through the eyes of northern youth, will be stored in the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre as a time capsule, to be reopened during the next International Polar Year, 25 years from now. The International Polar Year Canada Time Capsule Project has been made possible through funding from the the Government of Canada’s International Polar Year program. Special thanks to the Canadian Circumpolar Institute, the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, the IPY GAPS Project, and the Institute for Circumpolar Health Research for additional support. While this project has been supported through funds supplied by the Government of Canada, it would not be possible without the many contributions of artwork, photography, writing, and video provided by youth from across the Canadian North. Thank you everyone who contributed - we hope you love the exhibit as much as we do! Sincerely, Julia Christensen, Bree Denning, Alana Kronstal, and Megan Thompson Time Capule Project Organizers |
